I swear to god I almost had an orgasm watching Martha Steward baste her lips in a sensual video that included strawberries, honey and pomegranate for a new MAC Cosmetics ad playfully promoting the beauty brand’s new nude lipstick.

Martha Stewart, 83, slips back into thirst-trap mode with ‘iconic,’ ‘unhinged’ MAC ad, but it’s part of a growing trend in which cosmetics are branded with sumptuous foods to induce consumers to buy what they find attractive.  “People eat with their eyes,” says Kojenwa, founder at Zebra Public Relations. “I learned this watching my mom stack Bon Appétit magazines on the coffee table in the living room.  We would barely make the recipes, staring instead at the glossy images.”

Martha Stewart is a branding and marketing expert, an American retail business woman, writer, and television personality. As the founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, focusing on home and hospitality, she gained success through a variety of business ventures, encompassing publishing, broadcasting, merchandising and e-commerce. She has written numerous bestselling books, was the publisher of Martha Stewart Living magazine and hosted two syndicated television programs: Martha Stewart Living, which ran from 1993 to 2004, and The Martha Stewart Show, which ran from 2005 to 2012.

In 2023, at the age of 81, Stewart became the oldest woman to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue magazine, making the thirst traps the concept of the year. In 2024, she was the subject of a Netflix documentary titled Martha directed by R.J. Cutler.

Some Tuesdays ago, the MAC makeup company shared their new ad on Instagram, featuring the famed chef as one of a few new brand ambassadors.

In the clip, Stewart, who was dressed in a nude silk robe, seductively eats fresh strawberries, slurps honey and eats pomegranate before applying a nude color of MAC lip liner and lipstick to her mouth.

What do you think about brands who use marketing tactics designed to seduce the customer through food?
